Modular Approach

  • Our data centers are modular and the geothermal heat engines that power them are also factory assembled and delivered to the site in shipping containers, ready to install and interconnect. This allows minimal on-site construction, and that translates into faster construction schedules which greatly reduce the data center construction cost.

Power Plant Flexibility

  • We select the ideal geothermal engine for the individual site conditions and project requirements. For sites with low-heat geothermal resources (water temperatures below 250 degrees F) the robust Modified Stirling Heat Engine we use is dramatically more efficient than other geothermal source heat engines operating at these temperatures. For sites with higher temperature resources (water temperatures above 250 degrees F) we can use Organic Rankin Cycle heat engines from one of several manufacturers. In either case, our geothermal source engines translate directly into lower cost per KWH of electricity produced (as low as $0.015/KWH) and lower overall data center operating cost.

Immersion Cooling

  • We use the Green Revolution Cooling (GRC) patented immersion cooling system to cool critical data center components. This cooling system is far more efficient than the conventional air-cooled systems most data centers employ. Immersion cooling systems bathe computer processors in a thermally conductive but non-electrically conductive fluid to efficiently remove heat. This reduces the data center physical footprint (by as much as 90%) and cost of the data center cooling systems. Immersion cooling operates at Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings of 1.03 – 1.05 as compared with 1.25 – 1.50 PUE for conventional air-cooled systems, cutting cooling costs by as much as 90%. In addition, the high efficiency immersion cooling system prolongs equipment life and reduces equipment down time.

Grid Independent Low Cost Sites

  • Because our data centers operate independently and do not need to be connected to the power grid or placed near grid substations, they can be located in rural, but fiber optic served, areas with relatively low land cost. Furthermore, our ability to operate using low temperature geothermal resources means we can use land that would not support other types of geothermal power plants. These factors translate to lower overall project capital costs.
